Comment for Erin's Week 2

I am with Erin on the PowerPoint. I thought it was a really cool and easy way to make a fun activity for students. Wikis were different. If I could chose, I'd stick with the Google Site because the lay out looks more appealing to me. I think Erin had some good ideas for her Wiki and PowerPoint.

Comment on Natasha Week 7 Blog

I was kidn of on the same page with Natasha about learning about making a Podcast. I learned a lot about finding free music to add to a Podcast and I learned that the program, Audicity, was somewhat easy to use. I'm glad to see that Natasha feels she can use a Podcast in a math class. Maybe I can bounce ideas off her so I can use this tool for my students.

Podcasts

I don't think I'm going to use Podcasts in my classroom. It wasn't too hard to make them, but I think Math would be hard to follow without any paper work. Podcasts are really cool idea for the classroom. I think teachers can use podcasts to interests students in a different way.

Rubrics and Tools for the Classroom

This assignment to make a rubric was challenging because it was hard for me to put into words of what I expected students to show in their work. Rubistar was helpful and it helped convey what I wanted to say. The program was very simple to use and it was very quick to turn over a produced product. Wordle was fun to use. I think that it would be fun to use a wordle for key concepts of a particular unit or section of content. Looking for sources for the Tools page on my google site was eye opening because it showed me that I have tons of resources outside of my given textbook.

Movie Maker and Voice Thread

Making the movie was very fun. It was interesting to go through and edit my pictures and add music. The program was very easy to use and easy to finish projects. My only concern is that I may not have many uses for it in my future classroom.
The voice thread was hard for me to complete because of the programs not being able to relate on my netbook compared to the school netbooks. My movie that I wanted to use for my voice thread was not compatable to my computer.

Picasa

I had a hard time coming up with a story for diversity, but as I was working in Picasa, it came together. This program is really easy to use and making a movie with images is a great idea to build on a lesson.
I could use this to create notes and edit them to out key points and make a presentation to post on a class website. I think this could be a positive additive for the website.

Webquest

I found this hard to make because I've never had an inquiry based math lesson. I hope that I can get better at creating these because I think it is very interesting to do in a math classroom. I'm actually creating another one for another lesson. I hope that it turns out and helps students.
I think I could use this in a future class.

Google Survey

I think the resource of a Google Survey is great. Whether or not I choose to use it will have to be based on the context of the use. For math, I don't see how doing a survey like that is useful unless I was trying to target problem areas without knowing the student who answered.
I was interesting to contact teachers that I knew and ask them to fill this survey out. All of them were really excited to take part in my project...which made it really easy to get done.

Making Wiki Spaces and Interactive PowerPoint

This week's assignment was different in a way that it took more time to do something simple. The Wiki Spaces was not my favorite layout after making a Googlesite last week. I felt the Wiki layout was too blah and I felt I didn't have to much control over how it was set up. I do see potential in Wiki Spaces after finding the three articles for the Wikis In the Classroom.
The interactive PowerPoint was interesting to make. But I found myself worried that I had linked the wrong pages to each other. It was simple to make, but I felt that the one I submitted to give the project justice because I didn't have a lesson to actually base the questions off of. I feel that the interactive PowerPoint could be an importance piece to a future Googlesite. They could serve as extra tutorials or study guides to my lessons and assessments.

Making a PDF and Googlesite

I personally didn't like making the PDF. I don't think I will use it in my future math classes. I did enjoy the Googlesite. I think I will use that to help keep students updated and have it as a tool for parents to keep up with their child's progress and what is happening in the classroom. It think the Googlesite is a great way to stay orangized as a teacher, too.
